You may notice I've gone a bit crazy with posting this week.
Honestly, I never thought I'd continue, let alone post that story, but a few days ago on a whim I decided to post the re-writes I had so a friend could read it, and then the wheels started turning.. Suddenly I re-wrote what I had left of the original story, and today got around to continuing the story where I left off years ago.
To understand this story, you need some history.
Originally written out of an idea based on profiles my best friend and I had written for our alter egos (his for an RP he was playing, myself out of boredom after seeing the profile he;d written).. Thus I had these two characters (with my friend's blessing) and got to thinking, what kind of story could this two be in- we have a demon and a human warrior, and suddenly I saw a battle, which I then wrote.. The battle grew until I had a few pages with these two strangers interacting, and wondered, "well, the demon is immortal, what if he and this human were to interact over the course of a period of time?" After my friend informed me that his alter ego wasn't completely human, I incorporated that into the story, and decided these two would interact over the course of a period of time, arbitrarily deciding on a century (seemed like a good round number) and the basic idea was at had.. Add in my friend's girlfriend's alter ego and backstory, and I had a story on my hand.
I made it about 10 pages in before losing interest.. That can happen.
Luckily I had an odd little fanbase at school who kicked my ass into writing more, and over time those 10 pages became 25 or so, before my muse left and I wound up doing various other stories before settling in on my beloved Bay City..
But Raven and Lance were never far from my mind, and a year or two back, I picked up what I'd written and started to re-write it, as I was no longer satisfied with what I had. This re-write lasted a short while before my Bay City muse returned and I abandoned my alter ego for awhile, until this week.. With any luck, the wheels will keep spinning a bit longer, because I can see more and more of the plot in my mind now.
So there ya go, the back story of current events.
Beyond that, I must say that Dean Koontz is starting to impress me more and more- after devouring his Odd Thomas series, I started on his Frankenstein trilogy this week... Killed the 1st book (Prodigal Son) in three days.. Started book 2 (City of Night) today and I'm already a third of the way through.. The man writes a good yarn.
That's all out of me, later days.
